Growing up I swore I would never ever marry or even date a military guy. I was doing well to....but living in a military town and going to military school and everybody you know is connected to the military, it just didn't work not dating one! I met David in 2005, we dated for 5 months and then married. He left for Iraq three days after we married. I was so confident that I would be able to handle it just fine. That first year was very difficult for our marriage. It was still new and he had doubts about getting married so quickly and I soon began to regret it also. It is just so much harder have your spouse gone. And 5 years later, it isn't any easier. It still feels as though we are strangers when we are together and just when we start getting comfortable with each other again, he once again has to leave. We have been through much, we have been through three deployments, a split which led to our divorce, and then remarriage, three kids, 6 moves, and loss of friends and family. It is amazing we are still holding on! But we are....
